All Programs Defender and turn off indexing and if can do without Media Center startup stuffs.

I have been trying to work out my very slow startups ever since installing. Have a few things outstanding but reported. The media as posted by Bill certainly helps plus I was running Avast and noted in my performance reports + Event Logs Avast was causing slow starts. I uninstalled Avast and installed AVG Pro plus installed Diskeeper and defragmented rather than the inbuilt. Today for the first time I have noted my boot time has improved although I still have to test from a *cold* boot tomorrow.
Check your preformance logs which should indicate the areas to look at. I was surprised to see Avast in mine which has now gone and helped me. I didn't feel happy tweaking services but when disabling media things like Bill has it really does help.
